NEW JERSEY
TRINA McDONALD, LCMHC, LCAS, MAC, SAP
I have experience in both mental health and substance use disorder and have worked with various populations including corrections, military personnel, those living with HIV, and outpatient private organizations as well as a medication assisted treatment clinic. I fully embrace that everyone has a purpose and adopt the quote “There are two important days in your life; the day you were born and the day that you fond out why.” I have a client-centered approach and use a strength-based approach. I use cognitive behavioral therapy as a counseling foundation; yetusean eclectic blend (i.e. motivational interviewing, solution-focused, reality, and narrative therapy), to accomplish successful treatment outcomes. My personal traits of patience, empathy, and unconditional positive regard paired with the use of the spiritual traits of faith, hope, and love along with a dependence on a power greater than yourself drives my counseling philosophy. Together we work in partnership to help you accomplish spiritual, mental and emotional, social, and physical health goals so that you may navigate through life challenges and struggles more excellently.
