DR. CHRISTIN SMITH
Licensed to practice in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas, Dr. Christin Smith joins Sound Mind’s National Activist Care Network team as a clinical psychologist with over a decade of clinical experience, primarily focusing on psychological evaluation and therapeutic processing done within corrections systems. It is her commitment to this work that has given her a clear view of the inequities that exist within the legal system, and how those inequities impact the trajectory of youth who have been incarcerated. Dr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, double majoring in psychology and criminal justice. She holds both Master of Arts (M.A.), and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) degrees in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Smith’s doctoral research was a quantitative study involving statistical analysis and original data collection from incarcerate juvenile participants at Prince George’s County Correction Center, involving an in-depth review of the juvenile justice system and attachment theory. In addition to direct service provision, Dr. Smith provides clinical supervision services to training psychologists, and serves as a mentor to current doctoral students at her alma mater The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
