DR. MARCUS PATTERSON

Dr. Marcus Patterson is a licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience serving various mental health populations in various roles and capacities. He serves in the role of Sound Mind Associates’ Clinical Supervisor for Psycho-educational Testing and Assessment. He has received training in several clinical treatment modalities and provides an eclectic and individualized therapeutic approach when working with clients. His areas of expertise include: 

· Depression, Anxiety, and Anger 
· Life Transitions 

· Relationship and Interpersonal Functioning Issues 

· Sexual Identity Issues 
· College-life Issues 
· Grief  

· Substance Abuse and Dependence
· Racial and Cultural Issues

In addition to service provision as it relates to psychotherapy interventions, Dr. Patterson has also worked in public education (public charter schools) in the role of School Psychologist, providing a full range of psychological evaluative services. As a result, he has also been an active participant in educational multidisciplinary teams for the purpose of making accurate, data informed special education eligibility determinations. Having earned both the Master of Forensic Psychology, and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology degrees from Argosy University, he also successfully completed a pre-doctoral internship with he District of Columbia Superior Court’s Child Guidance Clinic.

 

Dr. Patterson specializes in and enjoys working with men and women of all racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations, seeking to provide a safe, empathic, and comfortable environment where clients feel secure and empowered to share and explore their thoughts, feelings, and desires.
